Yes Virginia, there will be a championship in 2020. We’re going to be implementing our new bi-annual format so the championship this year will be open to those who took first place in an eligible BJCP category in a qualifying 2018 or 2019 competition.
We actually settled on a late May date and then the fit hit the shan with the virus outbreak. We don’t have a new 2020 date in mind just yet because we need to see how a lot of things play out. It’s more than just getting 20 or so judges together, it’s about making sure that it’s a quality event.
This week we’ll be cleaning up the website some including the eligibility lists. If you expect to see your name there and you’re not please keep checking back. Another post will be made to this site indicating that the eligibility lists have been finalized. So you know we’re serious about hosting the comp in 2020, we’ll actually be placing the order for the awards once we get the updates completed.
When we have a new date for the championship we will publicize it with a month or so advance notice. For those of you who need to brew, start brewing. Don’t let the announcement for the date stand in your way. Brew smaller batches so you have something to drink while we’re not attending sporting events. Or brew regular sized batches for that big we can all gather in public again party that will be coming.
That’s it for now. Stay safe and healthy!
